Nuclear Walks & Desert One (Installation - Video, Paper Collage)

Someone, Many People Probably” Group Show, Defibrillator Gallery, Chicago, Oct 2014

Material: paper, monitor screens

Size: 3m x 3m wall

Inspired by the 1980 U.S. failed hostage rescue operation in Iran’s Tabas desert, and an army vocabulary guide discovered online, I set up a text-map collage with archival documents from studies conducted in the years preceding the hostage crisis by Iran’s intelligence service and the CIA on the personalities and traits of each other's citizens. The documents’ contents are stretched beyond their voyeuristicbodies, flattening the striation of language. In the intersected video screens, Iran and 5+1’s diplomatic teams pave through labyrinthine hallways to reach the nuclear negotiation rooms in a lingering decades-long encounter, in a loop.
